Power-up problems
Hello all-
I have a 4-year-old VPR Matrix PC (Best Buy's former brand) and I have been experiencing a recent power issue. After beinng shut down, the computer often will not power/boot up. It either shows no life at all (except for a small green light on the motherboard) or sometimes the CPU fan spins a little bit but the computer will not power up any farther. I took the power unit out of the tower and took it to CompUSA. A tech there tested it and said the power unit was fine and that my motherboard was likely dead and that I needed a new computer. I took the power unit home, re-installed it and at first, nothing happened. Then, after a few minutes with the power switch in the "on" position, the CPU fan spun slowly, then faster and faster and then the computer decided to power up. Also, there have been a few times when the computer boots to the VPR Matrix screen but NOT into windows.

So my question is this: Do I likely need a new power unit or was the guy at CompUSA right and I probably have a motherboard issue???

Thanks for any help out there! I am enternally grateful because this machine is still decent with a Pentium IV and a new 250Gb hard drive and all new DVD drives!!!
